The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) Trade Union Competence Centre Sub-Saharan Africa (TUCC) offer internship opportunities at our joint premises in Johannesburg, South Africa!

What we are looking for
An intern that is currently completing their Bachelor’s Degree or has recently completed a Bachelor’s Degree to conduct a full-time internship at FES TUCC for 3 to 4 months with a maximum duration of 90 days for non-residents due to visa regulations.

Typical tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Support the Program Managers and Director in their programmatic work; 
  • Conduct research on topical issues of FES TUCC work;
  • Write articles for the TUCC’s website and social media;
  • Assist in conceptualising of programs, especially on Just Transition, the Future of Work and
  • Feminism and Labour; 
  • Assist with administrative tasks

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited University for a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Political Science, Economics, International Relations, International Law, Journalism, African Studies, etc.) or have recently completed their studies in these fields.
  • Demonstrate interest in labour, feminist and migrant issues.
  • Be interested in the thematic areas of the TUCC especially on Just Transition, the Future of Work and Feminism and Labour;
  • Be able to work independently and show initiative, within a team and with a wide range of people, including internationally;
  • Have strong communication, research, and social media skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English,
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills; 
  • A very good command of MS Outlook, Word and Excel;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Identification with the values of FES;
  • Willingness to learn.

  • Internships take place in Johannesburg, South Africa
  • FES does not cover costs related to travel, visa, accommodation, insurance, or meals
  • A monthly allowance is provided by FES
