Please note: Our internship programme is currently suspended.

The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung's Trade Union Competence Centre for Sub-Saharan Africa (FES TUCC) offers internships of two to four months (ideally three months) to people who are interested in expanding their knowledge of the trade union landscape in Sub-Saharan-Africa. You should have a basic interest for labour and society issues, social justice and trade unions.

You will work in a small but fine team, everybody here has diverse backgrounds and experiences from which you can highly benefit. Depending on the current activities at the time of your internship, you will work individually or closely with office colleagues or project partners. You may also become involved in activities such as research, event planning, documentation and general administration. It is possible and highly welcomed that interns are attending seminars and conferences, write reports and minutes, do internet research as well as conduct all sorts of work which are connected to our daily office work.

  • All applicants should have a Bachelor Degree
  • Strong written and oral English language skills
  • Commitment to FES social and political ideas
  • All interns from abroad are requested to arrange for an international health care insurance
  • Driver license valid in South Africa
  • Valid Visa (applicants from abroad require a visa)

If you are interested in the internship, please send the following documents to our project assistant Ms. Pulane Ditlhake: Pulane.Ditlhake(at)

Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted. Should you not hear from the FES TUCC by 30 June please consider your application unsuccessful.
